Yoga Sanga is in the heart of Surry Hills conveniently located just 2 minutes walk from central station.

We aim to bring people together to explore, experience and enjoy the benefits of Yoga. We aim to build relationships and community, and support each other in our own journeys to health, wholeness and self-awareness, through our sharing of Yoga.

WHAT TYPE OF YOGA?
The Yoga that we teach largely comes from the teachings of Professor T. Krishnamacharya, who is considered to be one of the greatest yogis of the past century, and whose teachings have greatly influenced the practice of Yoga throughout the modern world. Krishnamacharya died in 1989 at the age of 101. Prominent teachers such as B.K.S. Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, Indra Devi, and A.G. Mohan were all taught by this great master, and the lineage of his teachings continues to be passed on through one of his closest students for many years, his own son, T.K.V. Desikachar, and now also his grandson, Kausthub Desikachar.
In accordance with these teachings, we do not teach a "style" of Yoga. There are many different tools and techniques of Yoga, and these may be applied in many different ways. Applying the right tools for each person or group in a particular situation is essential for the practice of Yoga to be of benefit. This principle is known as the "viniyoga of Yoga". We realise that everyone is different. We try to understand the needs of each person or group in a particular situation, and help develop a practice of Yoga that will bring out the best in each person.

GROUP CLASSES
Our group classes are intentionally small so that we can focus on the needs of the individuals in the class and make the necessary adaptations where appropriate. Enjoy the benefits of the various group classes we offer including beginners courses, general, intermediate, back care, meditation, Chanting & meditation, pregnancy.

PRIVATE CLASSES/YOGA THERAPY
If you have a particular injury or structural imbalance, private yoga classes are recommended. A functional assessment will be taken in the initial consultation and then a home practice designed for your individual needs. The benefits of yoga come from a regular and consistent practice that takes into consideration your needs at that stage in your life. Also bearing in mind that your needs may change at any time. A minimum of two to three consultations are recommended.

CORPORATE SERVICES - A Programme in Mind-Body Health

Would you like employees in your organisation to be stronger, more flexible, healthier, have clearer minds, and be calm and focused in the face of challenge? Consider the numerous benefits of Yoga in the workplace.

Despite popular misconceptions, Yoga is not about bodily contortions or becoming a human pretzel. Yoga is an approach to physical and mental health, well-being and personal growth. It is a discipline through which we experience, explore and challenge our minds and bodies, and the nature of our being.

One of the many benefits of Yoga, is developing an awareness of the effects of stress in our lives, and the skills with which to manage them. These benefits naturally extend from the individual participant to the work environment in which they are contributing. Regular practice is known to bring improved health in mind and body, increased energy, well-being and productivity.

A programme of "Yoga @ Work" conducted by Yoga Sanga is a great opportunity to bring the ancient practices of Yoga into the workplace.

Yoga @ Work is more than just exercise and relaxation; more than a general yoga class; more than a conventional course in stress management. It is a complete programme of mind-body health, and personal challenge and acceptance.
