Lyndal Thomas is a Yoga Teacher and a Bowen Therapist. Lyndal and her husband Brett both have a passion for natural therapies. They share their lives with their 2 dogs and their goldfish.
Yoga
Lyndal became qualified as a Yoga Teacher in 1999 and has been teaching since 2000. She has her own classes and teaches in two gyms. Each of her own classes are 75 minutes long, including warm-ups and meditation. Lyndal has the philosophy of keeping her classes small enough to enable her to ensure students are working within their capacity. When you come to her classes you are encouraged to ask questions as she checks people and to advise her of any problems you are having with postures. This results in your developing more body awareness and a healthier body which is less likely to be plagued with back and neck problems or the various conditions of today's society like anxiety, stress or depression. You will develop a greater self-knowledge which is a huge step toward peace and joy in your life.
Lyndal continues to be a student of yoga and attends regular yoga weekends and seminars, continually adding to her knowledge base. She has also studied ayurveda, the ancient form of Indian healing to acquire further knowledge about healing the body holistically, although she is not currently practising this modality. She is currently studying Remedial Yoga through Yoga for Health Australia to further her knowledge on working with people with any level of pain, from back or neck pain through to more serious illness.
During her classes she regularly checks student postures and makes suggestions for improvements. You are encouraged to always work within your body's capacity and discouraged from any straining or painful movements.
Lyndal runs courses in 8-10 week blocks throughout the year, costing $80-$100. She teaches at Arana Hills on Monday night from 7.00-8.15, Mitchelton on Tuesday night from 6.30-7.45, Keperra on Thursday morning from 9.30-10.45 and Ferny Hills on Thursday night from 7.00-8.15. Should you miss a class in the course it is usually possible to do a make-up class on another evening.
Bowen Therapy
During her time as a yoga teacher she noticed that some of her students needed more assistance with their bodies than yoga on a weekly basis could provide so she decided to study Bowen Therapy. Bowen Therapy is a gentle modality that can help with various ailments such as back and neck problems, sciatica, irritable bowel, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, headaches, colds, hayfever, lymphatic drainage, PMT etc. It is a relaxing experience to have a Bowen session and it can be very exciting to observe any improvements in your body.
She keeps her Bowen Therapy qualifications up to date, learning additional procedures when necessary and regularly treating people from all walks of life.
In both Yoga and Bowen Therapy, she endeavours always for her students and clients to feel safe. She encourages people to work at their own individual pace, rather than a general pace for all. She believes the mind, body and soul form the complete being and that work on any of these areas assists in all areas of our health and wellbeing.
Lyndal is available for Bowen Therapy appointments on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons and normal business hours on Wednesday and Saturday. A Bowen Therapy session costs $45.
