WHO COMES FOR COUNSELLING?
People decide to seek the help of a qualified counsellor when faced with personal challenges or difficulties in a relationship in order to find ways to release pain and confusion, feel better within themselves, achieve the best outcome possible and relate more autentically to others. For many people it is simply a worthwhile investment for a brighter future. You don't need to have a referral although in some cases it may be advisable to consult your doctor.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
A caring therapist supporting you in resolving conflicting and confusing feelings, in developing self-awareness and in clarifying your options.
A caring therapist at your side as you process “unfinished business” and move on in your life towards healing.
A caring therapist helping you work out strategies focussing on beneficial outcomes and achievable goals.
Counselling & Psychotherapy: Help you clarify issues, explore changes, develop self-awareness, make decisions, learn about healthy boundaries and internalise new skills to start taking the necessary steps towards achieving your goals.
Relationship counselling: Encourages you to resolve toxic issues through effective communication and interpersonal skills. It gives you the tools you need to develop intimacy and put in place sound strategies for a rewarding life with your partner. It is said that around 20% of Australian couples use the support of a professional counsellor. Most issues -from a perceived lack of connection to an affair - can be resolved. It is best to seek help early when you first become aware of the potential cracks in the relationship, and not let things deteriorate further. If your relationship was worth the commitment, it is worth the effort to maintain it. Most people greatly benefit from relationship counselling.
Separation and Divorce: For many people the pain experienced when a love relationship ends is excruciating: So many unanswered questions, so many deep feelings of sorrow. Regonising that is natural and even healthy to hurt is an important step towards healing. Heart-broken people need to be able to pick up the pieces, give themselves time to mourn for their losses, deal with anger and restore a wounded sense of self. My aim is to assist you going through the process, help you develop the skills to adjust to the crisis and rebuild a fulfulling life. As you progress in the journey you are likely to discover a new sense of self-worth and experience a remarkable personal growth.
Premarital and long-term committed relationship counselling: Michele has prepared a 6 session-program teaching couples the necessary skills to build a solid foundation for their unique relationship and make their marriage succeed in the long run: How to progress from the honeymoon stage to the mature love stage. How to create and nurture a fulfilling, long-term and loving bond based on commitment and trust.
Weight loss: Emotional eating - body image - Self-esteem. As a child what messages did you receive about food? How do they impact on your current eating habits? Some people see eating as a metaphore for the way we live and the way we love: Excessive fantasizing, the need to be in control and wanting what we perceive as forbidden. All those behaviours block us from enjoying food (and relationships) in a healthy way. How is it for you? What does eating mean to you? I use hypnotherapy to help with the process of developing healthier eating habits.
Hypnotherapy: Facilitates the application of hypnosis as a tool in a wide variety of areas such as anxiety, stress, depression, phobias, addictive behaviour such as smoking, gambling, eating disorders and others. Hypnosis is a collaborative process between the client and the therapist. The therapist establishes the right conditions helping the client to reach a relaxed yet alert state in which to bypass the conscious mind and access the resources of the unconscious mind. Hypnosis is used to reduce or eliminate symptoms, explore and understand one's patterns of being, reach for self-control and self-regulation, enhance and strengthen a sense of confidence. Hypnosis is a highly successful method and can be used in conjunciton with other therapies.
